Question: Who to share the Good News with - besides everybody? We recognize that existing connections, however tenuous, create linking opportunities between the evangelist and the evangelee. Anecdotally, these linkages enhance receptivity on the part of the evangelee, and create downstream linkage opportunities with others sharing similar connections.
Identification and development of possible networks:
* fellow alumni of evangelist's previous schools - Facebook great for this
* fellow members of civic, business, and/or social organizations i.e., Lion's Club, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodges, Elk Club, Ladies Fire Auxiliary, Sierra Club, etc. (ex. at http://www.lionsclubs.org/ use "find a club" tool)
* survey existing service and mission oriented organizations in your immediate and surrounding community - United Way red book
* use http://www.meetup.com/ to create networks around any shared interest
* political parties
* sports leagues or organizations
* and more...
* and more...
Identifying local issues:
* attend public meetings of local governing bodies i.e., Town Council, Board of Education, Planning Board, etc.
* volunteer on government advisory boards, e.g., Recreation Committee
* offer to serve as a volunteer chaplain to local Police and/or Fire Departments
* read local newspapers
* view local access cable television programming
* attend local sporting events and other community activities
* identify and interview local leaders
* learn history of community through research at local library
* visit community Internet sites e.g., http://www.seabrightnj.org/
* read community blogs http://www.blogsearch.google.com/
* door-to-door surveys
* and more...
